CONTEST RULES & REGULATIONS

Competitions Act related to Promotional Contests and Section 206 (f) of the Criminal Code of Canada

1.              “no purchase necessary” A contest must not require a “price” of entry. Please ensure wording is located anywhere a WIN message is stated (signage, contest entry form, necktag, website and contest lugons).

2.              “website address, or mailing address or 1-800 number” Checkouts must have only a website address to accommodate COM fixtures.  Wording must be on signage, website, necktags and entry forms to enter without purchase.

3.              “contest closing date” must be clearly visible on ALL signage, website, necktags, entry forms.

4.              “Must be of legal drinking age to participate” must be in contest rules, website and all entry forms.

5.              “Mathematical skill test question” full fills the requirement for a mixture of skill and chance to win. Must be on where full contest details are disclosed.

BC Liquor Distribution Branch rules

6.              “The provincial liquor agencies are not connected with this contest in any manner whatsoever, and are not liable in any way whatsoever in regard to any matter which relates to this contest.”

These words MUST appear on entry form or website.  Variations which include the full names of the Liquor Distribution Branch and the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch are acceptable.  Using words such as “liquor boards” are not acceptable as they do not exist in British Columbia.

7.              “Employees and contractors of the provincial liquor agencies, liquor licensees, their employees and members of the immediate families or of the aforementioned or persons with whom they are domiciled are not eligible.”

These words MUST appear on entry form or website.  Variations as stated above may be acceptable but must include both BC Liquor Branches and holders of licenses, etc.
